As Friday evening before the show drew to a close, checking on numbers, the final message came in from a member that their ATR was eating alternators. Due to various reasons, we were now down to just two ATRs belonging to the admin team, Lloyd & Stoo.
We met up for an early start with the obligatory McDolan’s brekkie on route. As we left McDolans, Stoo looked to the clear blue clear skies and was full of optimism for a lovely sunny day.
With a history of horrendous queues, Combe was breeze to enter this year. We were rather early, but it was well organised and no queues. We set up the two ATR’s and gave Sam’s little pocket rocket CR-Z a spot between us to fill out the gaps. It was kind of a child-catcher with the Among Us decal and Pokemon Plushies. No sooner had we set up the gazebo and the rain came in, it made a nice rainbow though.
We had the best pitch we’ve ever had at any show we’ve ever attended, right next to the pits and the trade stands, between the two flanks of display stands, so we had a lot of footfall and interest from the off.
We had a great time catching up with some old faces and met some new.
We also got to meet a couple of our Dutch members who had made the trip to the UK and their ATRs were on the Dutch Type R stand, which as it happened was the next but one stand from us! The Dutch guys were awesome and a big thanks to Lucas for showing us round his beautiful NSX.
Yes it rained on and off, yes we only had 2 ATR’s on the stand, but JDM Combe has always been our favourite and this was no exception, perhaps with the spot we had it was the best one yet.
